In addition to Operation Christmas Child, Samaritan's Purse also offers the opportunity to purchase gifts for people in need. These gifts include blankets, food for a baby, chicks, a water filter, etc. The Amplify students will craft some items that will be up for sale. The money they raise will go towards a project(s) of their choosing. Update: The Amplify students have decided that they would like to raise money to pay for a child to have cleft lip corrective surgery. Here's what Samaritan's Purse has to say about this gift: "In some countries, a cleft lip is considered a curse or a punishment for sin. Children born with these defects are often ridiculed, rejected, or even abused. Samaritan’s Purse is sending teams of doctors to South Sudan, Bolivia, and Liberia, offering surgery that mends cleft lips and gives people new hope for the future. Your gift of $250 can help provide this simple procedure for a patient, changing their life and giving us the opportunity to tell them that they are “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14)."
